On Monday 23rd January, the Kindergarten children celebrated Chinese New Year. Parents were invited into School to watch. We told the story of how the Chinese named their years and showed how to do the ribbon dance. The children had made red envelopes for their Mummies which some gave with a little reluctance when they realised they contained chocolate coins! This was quickly remedied when the teachers told the children there was an envelope for them in their classrooms.
The pupils in Mrs. Sheridan’s Year 2 class also celebrated the occasion by doing traditional Chinese origami and making colourful lanterns. Olivia, Alice and Mia delighted the class by wearing their beautiful Chinese gowns. Freddie greeted Mrs. Harvey with a Chinese welcome and gave traditional Chinese gifts to the class. The photograph shows Alice proudly displaying her new Chinese dragon “Jingles”!
