Creativity

We believe that creativity promotes discovery, openness, and collaboration and takes away the fear of getting things wrong.

We consider this area of the curriculum to be one of the most important when children first join us as it facilitates and encourages taking part. This, in turn, helps to develop confidence in the child and equip them for other areas of school life.

Drama plays an important part in developing self esteem and pupils are encouraged to take part in a variety of numerous opportunities that arise. All pupils are also involved in class assemblies, concerts and a whole school production at the end of the academic year.

Music is an important creative tool to inspire and stimulate the imagination and it is a very important part of our teaching at Weston Green. Our aim in teaching music at our school is not solely for pupils to sing well or read music, but to provide each child with an extra dimension that music can bring as a means of expression and communication. Also that music enhances their creative development.

Art is a real strength at the school, with pupils producing outstanding work in our impressive art room. Pupils explore visual elements: line, tone, colour, pattern, space, texture, form, space. They also experience a wide range of materials in two and three dimensions and learn how to apply them using various techniques and processes.
