Pupils' Work

Weston Green School Reception classroom display

Lots of exciting things have been going on throughout the school and the curriculum. Below is just a sample of work from Early Years. Please check regularly for more content.

Kindergarten: Art Work inspired by Kandinsky

Pupils in Kindergarten recently enjoyed creating their own pictures using a range of materials, inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky:

Reception: The Missing Dinosaur

As part of their Dinosaurs topic, Reception have created "Wanted" posters to request help from the rest of the school community, to find the missing dinosaur that had hatched from the mystery egg and escaped:

Kindergarten: Self-portraits

As part of their 'All About Me' topic, Kindergarten have enjoyed painting self-portraits:

Reception: Story Maps

In Literacy, Reception have been reading and thinking about the book, Harvey Slumfenburger’s Christmas Present, by John Burningham. The story focuses on Father Christmas’s determination to deliver the forgotten present to a poor boy, who lives in a small hut on the top of Roly Poly mountain.

Reception teamed up in pairs to design and draw a story map, with labels of Father Christmas’s journey to reach Harvey Slumfenburger:

Reception: Dinosaur Topic

As part of their Dinosaurs topic, Reception have been learning about the different types of dinosaurs, how they moved and what they ate. Some dinosaurs ate plants and they were called herbivores: others were meat eaters called carnivores. The children drew their own dinosaur and labelled the parts of the body:

In ICT, the children were introduced to the 2Paint-a-Picture program. They drew a picture of their dinosaur, selecting the size of the brush and the colour of the paint:
