Lots of exciting things have been going on throughout the school and the curriculum. Below is just a sample of work from Key Stage 1. Please check regularly for more content.
In Art, Year 2 recently enjoyed completing their own self-portraits. They used photos of themselves and studied their features before having a go at drawing a detailed pencil sketch of their face. They then explored different ways to create light, tone and shading with their pencil. The children were very pleased with their final masterpieces and so are we!
In Literacy, Year 2 have focused on stories written by Anthony Brown. They cleverly sequenced and re-told some of the stories in their own words. Many children explored the use of connectives and adjectives to write lengthy, interesting and detailed pieces. View some examples of the children's work so far this term - we are very proud of our young, talented writers!
Extending their work from the classroom on ‘Toys From Long Ago’, Year 1 recently participated in a special toy workshop. Pupils had the opportunity to investigate actual vintage toys and explore bringing these toys to life through movement and song.
They were also introduced to Mr. Gepetto’s Toy Shop, where the children developed a story together by acting like the toys in the shop: ballerinas, soldiers, puppets, bears etc. under the not so watchful eye of Mr. Gepetto. Children used oral storytelling techniques to create an add-on story together which was very exciting, leaving them with many story ideas for us to explore further.
