All quiet on the Weston Front

The time before any school year begins is eerie: there’s a quietness we don’t really understand and an emptiness of both school and heart. Yes, we prepare, we plan, we train .. but it’s all ‘phoney’ until the gates open and the children come pouring through and into action. As teachers, these are the moments we live for:  the glee on faces as friendships are renewed, the occasional ‘lost character who needs a guiding hand, the energy of each one as they prepare for their own challenges in the classroom, music room, art room or games field. I’m glad it’s no longer quiet on the Weston Green front, because now it’s real and the preparations and planning can come to fruition as we move forward into unknown territory to conquer new skills and expand our empire of knowledge. It’s full ahead, with all guns blazing …
