Delivering Challenge

Posted on: 03 Oct 2017 by Weston Green School

Life at Weston Green School has continued a-pace and it has been a wonderful privilege to spend some dedicated time in classrooms this week, observing teaching and learning and seeing the high quality work being generated by the children. As you know, our focus this year is to deliver ‘challenge’ and I have seen this everywhere: the children have been dissecting lamb’s hearts and building circuits in science, incorporating higher level language into their writing (words such as ‘relished’ and even ‘discombobulated’ come to mind from some younger children, along with some very impressively emotive descriptive language at the top of the school), creating vivid images through drama to inform their descriptions, inventing games to help number work...it is a seemingly endless list of inspiring activities which nurture deep learning - all of which will help catapult the children into senior school, when that time comes.

For those at the top of the school, the process of transfer to senior school is well underway. For those a little younger, this is the time to visit possible senior school options and I have been delighted to hear of several parents of Year 3 and 4 pupils doing just that this last week or so.

We aim to provide excellent support and guidance to parents and children embarking upon the 11+ process. Click here to view a detailed breakdown of our 11+ preparation schedule and timeline for 11+ application and entry.

When talking to prospective parents, one of the messages I want them to hear is that we are passionately committed to their children, not just in the ‘now’ but for their future. Mapping the right route to the right school for each individual is a vital part of what we do, so that the children of today are the confident, balanced and informed young adults of tomorrow. The journey starts here, but does not end here.
