Poetry in motion

Posted on: 08 Oct 2015 by Weston Green School

What is it that makes pupils bounce into school with a smile on their face? I am sure it has much to do with security, a sense of self-worth, acceptance, fun and challenge. The idea of standing on a stage reciting poetry would not be everyone’s idea of ‘fun’ but, for some, it is a chance to shine, to express, to entertain, to be their best selves. From the first Year 1 child, nervous and yet excited, to the more confident expressive and mature Year 6, the performances in last week’s Poetry Final were utterly wonderful, allowing those children who flourish in that arena to do just that and to impress and delight in equal measure. It was, to all who were there, poetry in motion.
