The end is nigh …

Posted on: 24 Mar 2015 by Weston Green School

The end of an exhilarating term is upon us! It has been a fast-paced and vibrant term, full of action and learning. It has seen so many things happen: year 6 success in their external exams to prestigious local schools, sustained success on the games field, trips out and visitors in, snow, the Holm Oak tree coming down, meetings with and for parents, new House competitions in the form of House Singing, assault course, swimming and food, special events in school with World Book Day and Red Nose Day to the fore and more musical events with the Teatime and Spring concerts; it has seen us opening our doors through the Open Day events and the wonderful Year 2 Football Festival - all these on top of and supporting the excellent learning which has been going on in the classroom, not least the superb work which has been inspired by our focus on creative writing and the ‘maths meets history’ week recently.

On the very last day, the Holm Oak will begin a new life as it is carved and shaped into a story chair, around and above which will feature the woodland characters we have chosen to epitomise the learning characteristics we shall be overtly seeking to grow within each child here. It is a wonderfully visual ‘bridge’ from this term into the summer.

Before then, Easter. Whilst we shall have fun chasing round searching for eggs on the last day here, may the real message of Easter fill your hearts with thankfulness and peace.
