The home-school partnership

Posted on: 03 Sep 2015 by Weston Green School

'Headteacher' magazine carried a piece in March of this year on home-school partnerships. Conclusions suggested that "parental involvement has a significant impact on pupil progress and attainment" and that "… more needs to be done to educate, parents…of the benefits and the strategies needed for working in partnership."

At Weston Green, recognising the truth and importance of the first observation, we have committed ourselves to try and ensure the second observation cannot be levelled at us. We hold a variety of events: curriculum information evenings, future schools evenings, presentations on how to manage risk with little ones, induction sessions for Reception, parent-teacher evenings, ‘how we teach maths’ evenings, e-safety training and so much more, all so that we can inform, discuss and travel the year together with parents. As we embark upon a new year, I only intend that we shall do this even more effectively and efficiently so that the child at the heart of what we do has everyone pulling in the right direction.
