Kindergarten Enjoy Painting Workshop with Artist, Georgia Bailey

The children in Kindergarten were very excited as they arrived at school on 24 March because we were joined by Georgia Bailey, an artist from the Orleans Gallery in Twickenham.  As Kindergarten’s topic this half term has been ‘Growing’, Georgia spoke to the children about daffodils growing from bulbs and showed them a picture illustrating the different stages of growth.  She set the activity up outside as it was a beautifully sunny morning.

She had brought with her two very large drawings of a daffodil with its bulb in the earth. The children painted the daffodils with rollers and also printed onto the picture. Georgia talked about which colours to use on the different parts of the picture. They thoroughly enjoyed collaborating on a large scale.  As each class worked in small groups to produce their art work, they enjoyed discussing the different parts of the plant, including the stem, leaves, bulb and roots.  The children impressed Georgia with the information they had retained about the conditions plants need to grow. They were able to inform her that plants need water, sunshine and soil.
