‘Learning for the 21st Century’: Weston Green Staff benefit from group-wide training

Teaching staff from Weston Green started the new academic year with shared training workshops, with other UK schools within the Bellevue Education group, on the topic of ‘Learning for the 21st Century’.

Led by Nigel Battey, who has over 30 years’ experience in education, both as a Headteacher and as a Director of Services, the sessions explored the most effective teaching strategies and tools to fully involve children in their own learning. Focus was on the need to develop pupils who are well equipped for future challenges, able to work together and adapt to change, and who are instilled with the desire to ask their own questions.

The workshops allowed staff to collaborate with colleagues within the Bellevue group and to share best practice, and ideas developed at the sessions are already being applied in the classrooms at Weston Green, to benefit pupils this term.

Kate Pinhey, Deputy Head & Head of Pastoral Care said, “Staff felt it was a very useful day with food for thought as we embark on the new academic year. We welcomed the opportunity to meet colleagues from other Bellevue schools and to discuss the themes together.”
