Travel plan update

Posted on: 21 Apr 2016 by Weston Green School | Category: Early Years, General News, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2

This week has been ‘Science Week’ in which the children have been exploring our amazing world with the help of their teachers and the ‘Science Boffins’ workshop. This, together with their projects, has allowed them to find out more about how things work and about some of the scientists who have helped to shape the modern world. Man is a most creative animal and constantly finds ways of overcoming problems – in many ways, that creativity is what helps define us. One of the major issues which we shall need to solve how we travel without causing irreparable damage to this beautiful world. As ever, it is not just about what we have as an option but our responses and choices with reference to those options.

This week we have outlined the Travel Plan we are proposing to help tackle the effects of a growing school. It is a combination of strategies including walking buses, minibus shuttles and encouragements to car share and to use more sustainable modes of transport where possible. For a full copy of the plan, please do feel free to email Mrs Withers (Business and Operations Manager) on swithers@westongreenschool.org.uk.

I have already asked the staff to play their part in this and you will have probably noticed the absence of cars from the front of school this last week. Please may I urge you to consider seriously what you can do to help.
