Weston Green Takes Part in Sky Sports’ ‘Game Changers’

Posted on: 08 Apr 2014 by Weston Green School | Category: Sports, Year 4, Year 6, Year 5

On Saturday 29 March, 31 pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 took a trip to Sky Sports Studios to be part of a live studio audience on the television show, Game Changers. With a meeting time of 6:30am it was an early start for all those involved, including the three members of staff who accompanied the children. Upon arrival at Sky Sports, we were given a nice breakfast before our leader for the day, Serge, introduced himself and prepared the children for the show. The children were then taken away to the studio whilst members of staff were shown into a cinema room where they watched the live show and all the off air moments. Needless to say, the children were particularly excited about being on live television, as those of you watching at home would have noticed. Some of the children were lucky enough to even do a ‘shout-out’ and ask questions of the professionals on set. The children clearly enjoyed themselves. After the show had finished, they had the opportunity to get autographs from all the sports stars on set.

And there was still more to come as Serge enabled the children to create their own news using four mini studios. The children were split into four groups and got to work on the respective areas of newsreel which, once combined, would be one complete news story with the children being the presenters, guests, cameraman, producer, director and editor.
