A trip back in time…

Posted on: 17 Mar 2015 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 1, Year 1

1W were lucky enough to have Jamie’s Grandpa come in to talk to them about his World War 2 memorabilia. The children got to hear of exciting stories about what life was like in Liverpool during WW2 and saw an old child’s gas mask that was made to look like Mickey Mouse! They heard the different alarms that were used to alert people to a bomb being dropped (that made us all jump!), looked at the different cards and coins Jamie’s Grandpa had collected and saw an old ration book. The children were all fortunate enough to each take home an old penny, something everyone was very excited about. Thank you to Jamie’s Grandpa for a wonderful visit that we all loved and for giving us even more information for the forthcoming VE day projects.
