Firewroks in Year 1!

Posted on: 04 Nov 2014 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 1, Year 1

This week in Year 1 we have been focusing on the mini topic of ‘Fireworks’. The children started the week by creating some colourful and explosive firework art using chalk which look extremely effective and magical in the classrooms. They then moved on to writing their own ‘Firework Poems’ and enjoyed thinking of exciting and adventurous adjectives to make their poems as interesting as possible. The children also had the chance to look at the history behind Fireworks Night and the story of Guy Fawkes. They enjoyed acting out the story and creating tableaux of different parts which gave them all the chance to show off their acting skills!. It has been an interesting week for the children and everyone has enjoyed having such a current topic to focus on. We hope you all enjoyed the firework celebrations too!
