Hockey report

Posted on: 09 Feb 2017 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 2

We are currently in our busiest ever term of sport at Weston Green: each and every child will represent the school in the many hockey fixtures throughout the term; the Year 3 children have already played in their first ever match with wooden sticks and gum shields; the results and performances have been very positive and are great reward for all the hard work the children put into their twice weekly games sessions.

Additional to these fixtures, many of the children will experience the excitement of tournament sport. In hockey, we will also be hosting the inaugural Weston Green School U11 Girls Hockey Tournament at Old Cranleighan's Hockey Club on Tuesday 7th March. This will involve eight teams from around the south east (and the Bellevue Group) competing in group and then knockout stages. The boys will be competing in the ISA U11 Hockey Tournament at Lee Valley Stadium in the shadow of the Olympic Stadium and the U10 boys will compete in the Kingston Cup, which will be hosted by Kingston Grammar School. There will also be a chance for the boys and girls to play together in the London South ISA U11 Mixed Hockey Tournament.

The U11 Girls will also continue their Netball Season in the ISA London South Tournament and then again at the Ewell Castle event.

At WGS we believe that sport really is for everyone, so remember that parents are always welcome to come and cheer the children along.
