As part of their new topic 'The Nature Library', Year 6 have been looking at the classification of the natural world. This past week they have been paying a particular focus on the differences of plants through designing a successful garden centre. The task commenced with a discussion on the differences and similarities between a large group of plants, before moving into groups and planning their layout. They had to not only take into account the conditions plants need to survive but analyse what specific conditions some plants need, particularly if they come from a very warm and dry climate (not Weston Green on average day!). The activity culminated in a presentation session whereby they had to justify their reasons and answer questions as to the choices they made and the pictures in the gallery show the groups promoting their centre.
