Kicking off with a win!

Posted on: 14 Oct 2015 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6

As we now approach half term it is a fantastic opportunity to look back over the terms results on the football pitch. We have had several matches across the year groups and some impressive results to say the least. Both of Weston Green’s A teams (Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6) have been unbeaten so far, with the top half of the school showing an impressive eye for the goal. In total both ‘A’ teams have scored 22 goals from just 4 games!

All the teams have shown tremendous character in the fixtures against significantly bigger schools. A great example of this was when the Year 5&6s played three games against Denmead and were unbeaten in all, winning one 6-5 (despite being 3-0 down after 5 minutes) and drawing the other two 1-1, with notable performances from Thomas C, Monty, Adam C and Mohamed-Ali.

More recently, the Year 3&4s were unbeaten against two strong Shrewsbury House teams. The As were able to secure a 2-1 victory whilst a superb defensive performance saw the Bs draw 1-1. Again, some excellent performances stood out, with Oliver and Owen showing a great attitude.

It has been a delight watching the boys show an excellent work ethic, teamwork and commitment to the matches and I hope to see it continue throughout the remainder of the term.

Upcoming fixtures:

Monday 2nd November: Year 3&4 girls Netball and Boys football vs Staines Prep (away)

Tuesday 3rd November: Year 6 (A) vs Denmead (Hampton and Richmond Football Club)

Thursday 5th November: Year 5&6 vs Shrewsbury House (away)

Friday 6th November: Year 5&6 vs Hampton Court House (away)

Finally, a big thank you for those parents who have come to support at fixtures; you have been superb, especially those who have helped to prepare the teas and coffees. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.
