School Council get busy

Posted on: 01 Oct 2015 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6

So begins a new academic year, and with it the flutter of excitement as pupils vote for the new School Council. Children who want to stand for election have to prepare a speech and stand up in front of their classmates which can be a daunting experience. However, with speeches given and votes counted, the children in Key Stage 2 have spoken. It gives me great pleasure to announce our new School Councillors:

Year 3: Louis and Talia                                   Year 4: Sam and Etta

Year 5: Mohamed-Ali and Holly                     Year 6: Sofia and Clement

Our first meeting was busy - there was already much to get through and decisions to be made. The School Council have declared that the week commencing 5th October will be a ‘Walk to School Week’. Ideally, this would mean that everyone would be walking, cycling, scooting, or even skateboarding to school. We all know this will be a hard task, but what we do ask is that, if you are driving to school, try to park further away and walk the last part of your journey. You will work off that piece of toast, get some fresh air and hopefully the weather will be just as nice as it has been this week. Staff will also be taking part!

Our regular charity, the Rhema Partnership, has asked us to collect pens, pencils and any other stationery as they will be heading out to India in November, so look out for the posters which will tell you where the collections points will be.
