Simo dicit - year 5 take a break from exams!

Simo dicit - year 5 take a break from exams!

It's been a tough week for year 5 - straight back from a lovely half-term break and into exams. They have been working really hard, and learning important skills about how to apply what they've learnt and take risks when they are unsure. As a well-earned break from their labours they spent some time this afternoon out in the playground playing 'Simon says' - in Latin!  Having just been introduced to imperative or "bossy" verbs in Latin, they pretended they were Roman soldiers and listened to Mrs Hawkins' commands to pick up their javelins, march, and form a defensive tortoise with imaginary shields. It was a great way of practising some new learning, and an excellent way of enjoying the sunshine and getting away from their exam desks.
