The great Weston Green Bake-off!

Posted on: 24 Feb 2015 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2

When the School Council asked their peers for fund-raising ideas one idea that kept recurring was for a bake-off competition. The pupils at Weston Green always enjoy their Friday cakes, and were thrilled to have the opportunity to bake their own, and decorate them with appropriate animal designs to raise money for one of their chosen charities - the RSPCA.

As the cakes and biscuits began to arrive on the last morning before half-term, the School Councillors were amazed by the ingenuity and creativity of their fellow pupils. There were dinosaurs, sheep, pigs, butterflies and bees to name but a few, and it soon became clear that Mr Harrison and Courtney were going to have a difficult time choosing winners.

Once the entries had been judged it was time to sell the cakes and business was brisk as pupils chose which animal creations they wanted to take home.

A total of £154 was raised for the RSPCA, and on their return to school after half term Edward and Freya in year 1, Talia and George in year 2, George in year 3, Lacksha in year 4, Adam and Sofia in year 5, and Brice and Scarlett in year 6 were all presented with prizes for their winning entries.
