WGS does the tour du Mont St Michel

Posted on: 12 May 2015 by Weston Green School

After a long, and very tough journey yesterday, 5H took on another challenge today - a bike ride around the amazing bay of Mont Saint Michel. The party was split into two groups today, swapping between bread making at La Grande Ferme (the results of which they will eat with dinner tonight) and a beautiful but challenging bike excursion. As befits La Grande Ferme, the bikes were also rather 'grand' in scale, and proved quite a challenge for some of our smaller children. What's more, Adam had only learnt to ride a bike very recently, announcing yesterday that he could now ride - but only in straight lines!  But the children rose to the challenge without exception and with the help of Mr Dowson and Mrs Hawkins they negotiated hills, valleys, coastal paths - and a few ditches and bushes into the bargain. It was character building stuff and inspite of a few tears and scrapes, they all survived and experienced a huge sense of achievement too. Tomorrow brings archery, fencing and aero football.
