Year 2 become Thames Explorers!

Posted on: 02 Feb 2015 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 1, Year 1

Last week year 2 had an interesting and extremely exciting visit to Thames Explorer. The children became little investigators and explored the shore line of the river and the different animals and invertebrates that live on the river bed. They were eager to develop their geographical knowledge of the local river environment and its wildlife through discussing their findings. The children enjoyed making their own observations and carried out simple scientific tests to investigate the cleanness of the river using ‘magic paper’! The children gained an understanding of the past by investigating river settlement and how people from the past used and harmed the river.

Now the children have learnt the importance of looking after our world and caring for the environment we live in. It was a fun, practical visit that has had the children questioning and experimenting with a range of exciting tasks.
