Year 5 say “Yes I Can!”

Posted on: 23 Sep 2016 by Weston Green School | Category: Key Stage 2, Year 5

Year 5 led the first assembly of the academic year on the theme of Valuing Differences. They took a rather upside down view by trying to imagine a school where everything was the same. They had fun thinking of a school where all the teachers were the same, the lessons, the games, the food, the books and where everyone was Star of the Week every week, but they soon realised that we school delight in our differences and enjoy the magical mix. James reminded us that: "It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognise, accept, and celebrate those differences", and the assembly ended with the powerful and inspiring film "Yes I Can!", produced for the 2016 Paralympics.
