Our Curriculum:
At Weston Green School, we have launched a dynamic and expanded curriculum designed to inspire and equip your children with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world. This evolution reflects our commitment to providing affordable excellence, ensuring that your children receive a rich, well-rounded education that combines academic strength with essential skills such as creative thinking, ethical leadership, resilience, and collaboration. By expanding our curriculum, we aim to prepare your children to navigate the complexities of modern life with confidence, adaptability, and a sense of purpose, empowering every child to succeed in an ever-changing global society.
Introducing the Weston Green Future Skills Programme
At the heart of our exciting new approach is the Weston Green Future Skills Programme, designed to equip your child with the essential skills for success in the 21st century. In a world that’s constantly changing, the ability to think creatively, lead with integrity, adapt quickly, and communicate confidently has never been more crucial. These future skills will run through every aspect of the curriculum, enriching lessons and learning experiences across all subjects. To complement this, we’ve created SkillQuest – an action packed, weekly programme that gives children the chance to put these skills into action. Every Friday morning, SkillQuest will spark your child’s curiosity and creativity through fun challenges, engaging activities, and inspiring events, bringing learning to life in exciting and practical ways.
Future Skills Programme
Creative Thinking – Encouraging children to develop innovative solutions and explore imaginative approaches to challenges through discussion, brainstorming, and creative collaboration. These experiences will help them become confident problem-solvers ready to tackle real-world scenarios.
Ethical Behaviour and Global Awareness – Instilling responsibility, empathy, and respect by teaching children to understand diverse cultures, perspectives, and global challenges. Through structured debates and thoughtful discussions, they will learn to express their views confidently while appreciating others’ perspectives.
Digital Literacy – Equipping children with the skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. They will learn to master essential tools, communicate effectively online, and evaluate information critically, ensuring they thrive in the digital age.
Resilience and Adaptability – Helping children face setbacks with courage, adapt to new situations, and build the confidence needed to handle life’s changes. Engaging conversations and role-play scenarios will prepare them to navigate uncertainty with a positive mindset.
Lifelong Curiosity – Igniting a love of learning by encouraging children to ask questions, explore new ideas, and stay eager to discover. Activities that foster inquiry and dialogue will keep their curiosity alive and thriving throughout life.
Leadership and Initiative – Empowering children to take charge, inspire others, and act decisively in various situations. Through opportunities to lead group activities, debates, and projects, they will develop independence, proactive thinking, and confidence in their abilities.
Collaboration and Service – Fostering teamwork and teaching children the value of active contribution to their communities. By working together on shared goals and discussing their experiences, they’ll build meaningful connections and develop a strong sense of social responsibility.
Effective Communication – Building confidence in expressing ideas clearly, listening actively, and engaging in meaningful conversations. Skills in debating, presenting, and group discussions will help children connect and collaborate effectively with others.
Problem Solving – Encouraging critical and creative thinking to analyse challenges, evaluate options, and implement solutions. Through activities that require reasoning and collaboration, children will learn to tackle both academic and real-world problems confidently.
Positive Mental Health – Providing children with tools to manage stress, build self-awareness, and regulate emotions. Activities like yoga, mindfulness, and reflective conversations will help them maintain a balanced and healthy mindset.
The Future Skills Programme goes beyond academic success – it prepares your child to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape, giving them an edge and helping them lead the way in both their education and future pursuits. This dynamic programme for Years 1–6 is designed to equip your child with the essential skills to excel not just in school, but in life.
