Another phenomenally busy term draws to a close .. but not quite yet. The last few weeks have witnessed the Future Schools evening, the Open Morning for present parents, a Music Festival for y2, more successful hockey, the y2 football festival and the teatime concert - and yet there is still more to come: the House hockey, the Spring Concerts, the swimming gala and, of course, the Easter Egg Hunt! It is all part of the magic and value of the school, enabling the children can take on so much, doing it all in such accomplished fashion and deriving such obvious benefit from it.
As Head, I am often awed by the stamina, talent and enthusiasm of WGS children and never more so than during this term where every year group seems to have responded to increasing challenge, elevating their understanding and their personal development.
It is, above all perhaps, that combination of academic development, creative and sporting expression along with personal progress which is so impressive; often hard to measure and yet unquestioningly evident: children growing in awareness, respect, increasing intellectual curiosity and understanding is a wonderful summary of this excellent term – a most well-deserved holiday for all .. but not before that final flurry of joyous activity, creativity and fun.
