End of Term

Posted on: 29 Mar 2021 by Weston Green School

We end the term with wonderfully warm weather and the days longer and brighter, a hint of the days of summer to come and the more positive future ahead. Our children have been nothing short of incredible throughout this term, demonstrating such resilience as the term has progressed through the dark days of a third lockdown, remote learning, restrictions and the impact on their lives and finally the glorious return to school. During these past 3 weeks, the children have shown increasing confidence and enjoyment of their days at school as the routine, rigor and expectations have settled. Following all that has happened, I know they are ready for a well earned break.

As the term ends we have also marked a full year since this all began. A moment reflecting on what has changed, what we have lost and in some ways how we have gained. That first school closure feels like a lifetime ago.  The shared journey we have all experienced has enabled us to show our resilience as a school and as individuals, we have learnt so much, new skills, different ways of teaching and learning and the capacity to retain the rich experiences and pastoral strength that so embodies Weston Green.  But, of course, it has presented us with many changes both educationally and personally, I know reflecting on the last year may be difficult for some for a variety of reasons and my thoughts are with all of our community who have lost loved ones during this time. As a school, though, I know we are stronger as a result of this experience and continue to look forward to this next term with enthusiasm and positivity.

Before that, however, we wish all our families a very Happy Easter and a wonderful and restful break.
