Headteacher’s Blog 25th June

Posted on: 25 Jun 2021 by Weston Green School

Wow this is certainly turning out to be a busy and exciting end to the term and this difficult year. The excited faces and beaming smiles this week through our sports day events and our wonderful summer fair has been a feast for the eyes. Together with the trips out, visitors in, theatre workshops and production preparations, these are joyful moments to capture, to treasure and be ever grateful for. We are all focussed on ensuring the breadth and depth of school life continues through which children gain so much.

One of these events was our Year 6 Enterprise Day, the culmination of a 6 week programme learning about the world of business. Creating a product idea, formulating a business plan, learning about profit, loss and product pricing together with effective marketing campaigns have been the focus of our Year 6 teams. As I took part in the panel judging their Perfect Pitch’s  (Dragons Den style), I could not have been more proud of their confidence, self belief and incredible teamwork. These are important life skills which they will draw upon time after time as they move into senior school and beyond, and are all part of the purposeful planned preparation for future schooling.

In the same vein, I am very much looking forward to our Year 4 completing their English Speaking Board exams next week. Again, presenting to an audience on a topic of their choice, they are learning to choose their language, present clearly, and show confidence,  all vital skills which enables them to grow as people, socially, pastorally as well as academically, and serves them well as they move into upper school.

This rich and varied school life encourages our children to become skilled, reflective, well rounded and full of individuality, and we couldn't ask for any more!

We wish you all a wonderful weekend.

Sarah Evans
