Our new Nursery provision opened in January, one day after the announcement that children from Reception to Year 6 would not be returning to school until late February at the earliest. However, despite these uncertain times, and alongside our new Kindergarten pupils, our youngest children have settled, adjusted and adapted to their new surroundings in such a positive way that it seems as if they have been here for so much longer than 6 weeks. The rest of the school may be quiet but here in Kindergarten and Nursery the children are playing, learning and making a noise!
At this young age children develop quickly and are ready, eager and able to learn. Supported by our dedicated and enthusiastic staff we are able to offer all children activities and learning experiences that allow them to engage with other people and their environment, play and explore and take part in open ended learning experiences that enable them to create and think critically. Ensuring that our children feel secure, happy and safe in school is our first and most important priority and this emphasis on pastoral care continues throughout the school, not just in Early Years.
Having the opportunity to join our thriving Early Years environment from 2 years old and then progress through the school to Year 6 has many benefits for the children, parents and teachers. The strength of the relationships formed between the staff and the children at Weston Green allows for smooth transitions at key points in their education and a real sense of belonging. The children work hard at Weston Green and achieve wonderful things. We learn with a smile and make sure we celebrate all the children’s successes, big or small, at school and at home. We are passionate about developing the whole child; be that academic, personal, emotional and social development. This begins in the Nursery where we ensure the children are happy and confident, bouncing into school with a smile on their face!
