Do you think in words, pictures of music? Without wishing to worry you about the sanity of the Headmaster let me admit to you that I have constant songs in my mind and I often sing my way through a day, either internally or out loud (much to the huge annoyance of my wife when at home). Why, I cannot tell .. but I do. I would even venture to say others do the same.
Victor Hugo said “Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent”. In building up to the House Music these last few weeks, we have captured something of that mystery and magic: there is something wonderful about joining together in this way; the children have adored it and it has moved the staff so much. Add to this the beauty and bravery of individual performance and you truly have that magical mix.
That togetherness includes the way that the children are guided by and bond with the excellent staff team we have here and last week was another example of how their continuous commitment to excellence shone through.
Thursday afternoon last week was therefore both competition and togetherness in a typically terrific Weston Green way and I hope you will get a flavour of that in the forthcoming teatime and Spring Concerts. It was yet another occasion when, as Head, one simply looks on and admires.
