Up and running!

Posted on: 26 Jan 2017 by Weston Green School

Although this is the first newsletter of 2017, we have been well under way for some time and Weston Green is again resounding to the rhythm of each school day and week. We have already had trips out, the Open House in Key Stage 2, matches against other schools and some wonderful special assemblies - all this of course on top of the impressive work going on in each class; the number of Headteacher’s Awards on the corridor wall is indicative of both the quality and quantity of work already achieved this term.

For Year 6, the focus is inevitably upon the 11+ exams and results. It is a trying time as the children and their parents await ‘news’. Our thoughts are with them as they go through this time. By half-term we should have heard from all the senior schools as the exam season is very nearly complete.

For the staff, the year began with a reflection on two main themes: their own area of responsibility within school (with the express purpose of setting out a development plan for that area) and a focus upon the importance of the children’s well-being; when proactive pastoral care and constant attention to the children’s learning come together, the best outcomes are produced – as the children are proving day by day and as the newsletter will again demonstrate. Happy reading!
