“A goal without a plan is just a wish” - so said Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Whilst it is great to dream (and without our dreams, how little we would accomplish), those dreams must be supported by rigorous thought, planning and action if they are to be borne into reality. So it is that we create ‘development plans’ - ideas and dreams which need to be brought into reality if they are to be at all meaningful.
Whilst some might consider a development plan simply ‘just another document’, for me, this is a vital working document which not only expresses our intentions and earths our dreams, but also acts as a means of tracking progress towards making those dreams become reality. “You can't plough a field simply by turning it over in your mind” (George Hinckley) and so we do indeed spend time dreaming, time planning and time ‘ploughing’. At Weston Green, I invite staff and Governors to dream, to plan...and to plough.
