It never ceases to amaze me how wonderfully busy, creative and productive life is at Weston Green. As we approach half-term, one can reflect on so much exciting learning: ‘learning with joyful enthusiasm’ has been not just the motto but the very hallmark of this term. Whether it has been proudly showing a VE Day project, performing in ‘Stella Starfish’, completing an impressive Geography project, tackling one of the Headmaster’s logic puzzles, excelling in activities in France on the residential trip, competing in an athletics fixture or cricket match, or preparing a stunning ESB talk, all these avenues for learning have reaped such rich reward not only in the end product but also in the process of engagement which has instilled a higher degree of knowledge, including self-knowledge.
This half of term culminates this week in Revision Week when the children from Year 1 and older will begin to gather their thoughts for Exam Week – a week, when inspiration and perspiration should combine in tackling the challenges ahead. Whilst it may seem odd to say so, I sincerely hope the children are looking forward to this and have an attitude of ‘let me show you what I can do’ as this would be a fitting approach given all the excellence of the term and year thus far.
In between Revision Week and Exam Week lies a half-term break. May it be full of sunshine, fun, rest ... and just a little revision?
