After half a term of learning all about the Ancient Egyptians, year 3 could not wait to get on their costumes and celebrate Egyptian Day! Inspired by all they had learnt over the half term, the children came in dressed as pharaohs, mummies and Egyptian army leaders, ready to watch the mysterious show ‘The Curse of the Mummy’. Engaging in the show, the children were challenged at different points to recall facts about Ancient Egypt and discuss the plot of the story. Following on from this, the children took part in a workshop where they were asked to portray different scenes from when Tutankhamen’s tomb was recovered, to how the Egyptians built the famous pyramids. The children loved the drama element of the morning and could not wait to share what they had done with their peers. The afternoon was taken up with the children creating their own Egyptian jewellery and designing their own sarcophagus, all of which was done with such enthusiasm.
