On Wednesday 26th February, years 3 and 4 were lucky enough to spend the afternoon with Maz Evans, best-selling author of the ‘Who Let the Gods Out?’ series. The day began with much excitement and anticipation and Maz certainly did not disappoint!
The children and teachers were captivated by her animated character and hilarious stories about how she became an author, the books she has written and her plans for the future. Maz was truly inspiring to us all as she shared her setbacks and successes.
Her message was clearly communicated to the children - to ‘never give up!’ The second half of the workshop focused on the interesting characters from her first book, ‘’Who Let the Gods Out?’ After reading (with some role-play!) a few pages from the story, the children participated in a discussion about the characters, followed by a creative writing workshop where they wrote a diary entry in role. Maz Evans and the teachers were very impressed with the diaries that everyone produced and we heard some amazing pieces of writing read out by some of the children.
The fun-filled afternoon ended with the children having their books signed by Maz and every book was sold out by the end of the day! What an entertaining and inspiring afternoon!
