Alumni – Bryn D

Posted: 26th May 2023

Hi, my name is Bryn, and I am currently at the University of Nottingham studying Archaeology and History.

I started Weston Green in Kindergarten and stayed until Year 6 (my year was the first year that stayed until year 6). Weston Green has always been a special place for me, and I have a lot of fond memories of my time there. The year 5 trip to PGL was certainly a highlight for me, with the Giant Swing being a memorable experience! Aside from the incredible trips that we had, I always remember the break times and the creation of a new sport; Tockey, an incredible combination of Hockey and Tennis. This combined with the unity of my year group made every day at Weston Green a memorable one!

Since leaving Weston Green, the skills that I learnt from Weston Green have been incredibly useful. Skills such as leadership and teamwork have become invaluable, and I am eternally grateful to Weston Green for teaching me these skills. Throughout my school career I have picked up lots of advice, but for me that most important advice that I could share with the year 5 and 6s is to gain a qualification. It does not matter whether it is in sport or a hobby. I am a qualified tennis coach and I have used this to not only have a flexible job which I enjoy doing but also to travel. Last summer I worked at an American summer camp coaching tennis.

These opportunities that I have taken throughout my time as a tennis coach are only because I got both my level 1 and level 2 when I was still at school. And, I have never looked back or regretted the decision, and I would encourage anyone to do the same and gain a qualification.
