Ditton reign supreme in House Netball and Football

Last week was our first sporting House Tournament of the academic year - and my what a success it was! The format was changed slightly this year, with Key Stage 1 contributing to the overall outcome of the tournament. Pupils in Key Stage 1 competed in mixed teams in both netball and football, with Fairmile being the standout house, losing only once in their five matches and earning 22 points overall.

In Key Stage 2, the girls had their netball matches first, with Ditton winning by just one point over Fairmile - their match, in particular, was a highlight of attacking play, with Ditton winning 11-5. The games were all tight affairs besides that one, with Arbrook showing a strong defensive game, Littleworth refusing to give in and Fairmile showing a very direct style of play.

In the boys football, Littleworth looked to be the early favourites with a strong squad and they did not disappoint, winning all of their matches and conceding only one goal, whilst Arbrook and Ditton were level on points and goal difference behind them. Fairmile, unfortunately, were unable to continue the success of the younger children and girls earlier in the day, but defended with perseverance.

With the results in, we combined all of the scores from the Key Stage 1, girls netball and boys football for an overall winner. It was the closest result in years, with Ditton winning the trophy by two points over Fairmile, with Littleworth third and Arbrook fourth. Well done to all those children who showed how much they have developed over the term - you were exceptional. Let’s hope the house hockey is just as close next term.
