On the first weekend of the term, Weston Green participated in a 5-a-side Football tournament at Hampton School. This gave the boys a chance to test themselves against larger schools, and give an indicator of how successful they would be this term. With the matches being 10 minutes each, and not long to rest between, this would not only challenge the boys' abilities but also their fitness and team spirit.
Unfortunately, the boys were perhaps not quite as ready for the first game as they hoped and succumbed to a heavy loss. However, the boys responded well and played some lovely Football to win the next 3-0 against Twickenham Prep. Two closely fought defeats to Surbiton Boys and St. Marys could have left the players deflated, but they continued to display resilience and teamwork to remain unbeaten in their remaining three fixtures, against Ravenscourt Park, Kew Green and Thames Ditton Juniors.
The tournament was a great success for the boys, as they had a chance to meet children from other schools and understand how they could improve moving forward. Thank you to the parents who came along to support so early in the morning on a Saturday.
