Fraction fun in Year 3

Fraction fun in Year 3

Year 3 had a fantastic time in Maths last week as they were in charge of their very own fraction investigation.

Around the classroom and on the playground, there were different tasks laid out, ranging from a bean bag throw to basketball shots. Pupils were given the denominator (the total attempts they had) and had to create their own numerator (the successful attempts); this resulted in the children generating their very own fractions.

Once they had completed each task, Year 3 found different ways to represent their fractions. The enthusiasm within the room was electric and the children took a great level of ownership over their learning - after all, it was their own scores they were representing! Well done, Year 3.
