Gung Hoy Fat Choy!  Happy New Year!

What a fantastic day the school had, celebrating Chinese New Year.  Across all year groups the curriculum was adapted to have a Chinese focus, from investigating the Mystery of the Stolen Dragon Mask in Maths, making Chinese Lanterns in Art, making spring rolls in Kindergarten Cookery and writing Gushi poetry in English as well as learning about the animals in the Chinese zodiac.  In Year 2, the children enjoyed two brilliant workshops by Mr Lee from "China People Promotions" which introduced them to some traditional Chinese stories and the wonderful art of calligraphy.   The children really enjoyed creating their own special pieces of artwork and acting out the stories. At the end of the day in year 5, Connie wore her wonderful Chinese dragon costume to hand out fortune cookies to her fortunate classmates.

A big thank you must go to Matt the chef and his team for the delicious Chinese menu at lunch time, giving the children an opportunity to practice their chopstick skills!
