Inter-house Fitness Challenge

The first Games session of the year proved to be anything other than a gentle warm up session as all of Key Stage 2 competed in the Inaugural Fitness Challenge - the first sporting House Competition of the year. This event is held in the school playground and includes running through a cone slalom, jumping over benches, climbing over the rope frame, stepping through tyres, as well as crawling through tunnels, over frames and under nets. The effort levels and competition were excellent as each and every child strived to finish the course as quickly as they could.

A special mention must go to all the new Year 3 children who were attending their first ever Key Stage 2 games session – not all sessions are as tough as this one! Also a mention for Finley in Year 4 who crashed and fell within the first 15 metres but got himself up, dusted himself down and ran his heart out - a great example of bravery and the spirit we look for in all KS2 sport at WGS.

The competition was incredibly tight with each finishing position vital to the final result. In each race the first 5 finishers were awarded points (1st = 50, 2nd = 40, 3rd = 30, 4th = 20 & 5th = 10). After five very tight races the eventual winners were Arbrook by the smallest of margins - 10 points!!

Well done to all the children for a brilliant event.  Thank you also to all the parents and family who came to watch and cheer on the children.
