Kick starting Sport

It has been an exciting start to the year on the sports pitch. Over the summer we made changes to the sports schedule, to ensure that Key Stage 2 are split with different sessions, which has worked fantastically well and we are already seeing the rewards. The girls are now using the brand new netball courts at Esher college, whilst the boys continue to use the astroturf pitch at Old Cranleighans. This means that both are having the opportunity to use the best facilities possible.

We have already seen fixtures for some of the boys in Key Stage 2. Eight children from Years 5 and 6 were selected to represent the school at the Hampton School Festival on the first Saturday back after the holidays. The boys started slowly, but played some excellent passing football and were more than a match for some of the much larger schools in the area.

Over the past week, both Year 3 and Year 4 have had fixtures against Surbiton Boys Prep, showing fantastic skill, determination and effort winning three matches out of four. These fixtures provide the opportunity for pupils to express themselves outside of the classroom, as well as building comradery, teamwork, communication and fitness. What a great start to the school year!
