This term has not only seen investment in some amazing new equipment for KS2 to use (ipads, keyboards, new sports equipment to name but a few!); but here at Weston Green we have also been ‘investing’ in the children as the future leaders of tomorrow.
House, Sport and Choir Captains have now been selected, and they sit alongside the School Council and Food Committee as some of the positions of responsibility that children can be considered for when they move up to KS2. These roles are highly coveted and remind them that they are now the eldest (and wisest!) members of the school and, as such, carry a huge sense of responsibility to fulfil their roles well.
Being able to represent the views of their peers and knowing that their opinions are listened to by the teaching staff, gives a huge sense of pride. As these positions were not given, but applied for roles, they had to prove themselves through showing commitment, writing letters or being voted for by their peers.
And yet, there are still some positions of responsibility left to be decided… who knows, maybe we have a future Prime Minister in our midst?
