New outdoor learning area officially opened

On Monday 11th June, pupils, parents and staff gathered to celebrate the official opening of our new £20,000 outdoor area, designed to enhance opportunities for outdoor learning and play.

The ribbon was cut by Sinéad Cuckow, Chair of Weston Green School Parents’ Association, which organised a range of fundraising activities to achieve the impressive total for this initiative.

Pupils are now able to enjoy a wide variety of outdoor learning experiences, including a den-building and woodwork area, climbing apparatus and outdoor musical instruments, as well as a stage and seating area for the children to perform outdoors.

Mike Harrison, Headteacher, said: “We are very proud of our fantastic, close-knit community here at Weston Green and the Parents’ Association plays a vital role in supporting us to enhance the children’s experiences. We would like to thank Sinéad and the Parents’ Association for all their hard work on this project, which will be of great benefit to all our pupils, enabling them to engage with the outdoors, exercise their creativity and build their confidence, by trying new things.”

Sinéad Cuckow, Chair of Weston Green School Parents’ Association, said: “All of the work that goes into organising the events that made this project possible, is worth it when we see and hear about how much the children enjoy the new outdoor area. We are delighted that it is now officially open.”
