Posted on: 15 Oct 2019 by Weston Green School | Category: Early Years, Reception
Reception have been enjoying learning about the seasons and building towards our Harvest celebrations, so what better way to bring this to life than some autumnal pumpkin picking in the sunshine!
This was the first trip for many of the children, helping to build their confidence in unfamiliar settings. Reception had to work together like bees to collect and bag their pumpkins and show the resilience of a woodpecker to carry their chosen prize back to the minibus. This first-hand experience of the source of the food we eat was finished off with the cooking of delicious pumpkin soup back in the classroom and an exploration of the structure of a pumpkin. A priceless experience and a wonderful day.
