Remembrance Celebrations

Last week, the Weston Green community came together to mark Remembrance Day.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful remembrance display, put together by Mrs. Willis on the glass doors of the hall, containing so many moving photos and details of family members who have served the country during times of conflict. This simple but inspiring project has really brought home to the children that behind every name is a real person who made their own contribution, including decorated war heroes, a code breaker at Bletchley Park and a volunteer ambulance driver during World War One.

In our remembrance assembly, we learned about who we remember and why, and the children showed great respect during the two-minute silence on 11th November and listening to the Last Post and Reveille played by Mr. Woodman, our brass teacher.

Poppies made by pupils from recycled plastic bottles decorated the railings at the front and back of the school, completing our remembrance displays.
