Year 5 really rose to the challenge recently when, after only two weeks of learning Latin, they put on the first class assembly of the new academic year. Taking on the roles of Minimus the mouse, and the family who live at Vindolanda, they demonstrated their proficiency at introducing themselves, and using some newly learned verbs to describe what people were doing.
Pupils in Years 5 and 6 at Weston Green School learn Latin with Mrs Hawkins, and really enjoy finding out about the Romans who lived in Britain, and how their occupation influenced our country and its language. As they learn the basics of Latin grammar through the engaging stories of Minimus the mouse and the family he lives with, their English improves too.
