During their Forest School sessions, Year 1 enjoy working together in teams or with partners to complete a range of outdoor challenges with different themes each week.
One of Year 1's favourite challenges recently involved designing and creating a squirrel’s drey. The children had to use their Woodpecker Learner Profile skill, to be resilient and work hard to ensure their creation was secure and balanced in the trees.
Teamwork is a vital skill and one that requires patience and cohesion, which can be tricky at this young age. Year 1 have had to learn to take turns, to share ideas and listen to one another as they develop a range of skills through play and exploration.
Our weekly trips to Forest School have made Year 1 excited that Spring is on its way and that warmer weather is approaching!
