Summer sport gets off to a great start

It has certainly been a busy start to the Summer term. We have already had the Under 7 ISA (Independent Schools Association) Football Festival and one athletics fixture against Westbury House, with more to come.

The boys who were selected for the Under 7 Football Festival did the whole school proud. After losing their first game to St. David’s Prep courtesy of an unfortunate own goal, they drew 0-0 with Lingfield, the hosts, showing great determination, clearing the ball off the line as well as saving a penalty. The boys then won their remaining matches 10-0 and 1-0 against Oakfield Prep and Elmhurst.

The final goal the boys scored was probably one of the best goals of the entire day, with a passing move from a goal kick and Rafe dribbling past three opposition players, before calmly passing the ball into the bottom corner. The boys certainly enjoyed the day and it was a fantastic chance for them to meet other teams and challenge themselves against much larger schools.

Years 5 and 6 also participated in an athletics meeting against Westbury house and the Study, with some success. This is once again a fantastic opportunity for pupils to mix in different age groups and compete together, developing their communication and teamwork skills.
