Year 2 take part in St Christopher’s Music Festival

Year 2 take part in St Christopher’s Music Festival

Pupils in Year 2 had an exciting day when they travelled to Epsom to take part in the St Christopher’s School Music Festival, a popular annual event for Year 2 children from a range of local schools. During the festival, each participating school sings two songs, one of which is in a different language.

With Mme Harmer’s help, Weston Green's pupils had chosen a French song to perform together, with one in English which they had worked well as a team to learn.

All the children taking part in the Festival had also learned Bob Chilcott’s ‘Can You Hear Me,’ a beautiful song incorporating sign language which is performed annually as a large choir under the direction of Adam Assen, the Director of Music at Caterham School. The choir from Caterham accompanied the children and sang a descant part.

It was a fantastic experience for pupils to perform in front of parents, both as a school group and as part of the larger choir, building their confidence as performers, and the day was rounded off with lunch for all the children and the opportunity to play in the grounds of St Christopher’s School.
